Ed Whiting

Ed Whiting Born and raised in California, Ed Whiting developed his love of firearms at the age of 10 when he first saw his father's small collection of pistols and rifles. When Ed was 13 yrs old, his father gave Ed and his brother a .410 shotgun for Christmas and Ed reports, "I was hooked."

At age 18, Ed joined the United States Air Force. Through his work as a Security Policeman, Ed had opportunity to handle and shoot many different firearms and did so at every opportunity. In Ed's own words, "I felt like a kid in a candy store of firearms."

After being discharged from the USAF, Ed looked for work in the law enforcement field, finally settling at a small police department in California's San Joaquin Valley, where he has worked for the past 20 years. In that time, Ed has worked in patrol operations, detectives, narcotics, corrections, and is now in the training division as the Training Manager. He is also the Range Master for his department.

Of his spare time, Ed comments, "I love to fish and hike in the mountains of California, especially in the far off places. I like the solitude with a backdrop only Mother Nature can make. There are still places in the back country only seen by a handful of people every year. It is in these areas I have found a firearm is a good tool, much like a fire starter or a good knife."
