Signalling

There are many ways to communicate a message; semaphore and morse code are two methods that do not require direct contact, however, they are beyond the scope of this tutorial.

Simpler ways to communicate include using a mirror to attract attention, setting unusual markers (such as a pine cone wedged between two split halves of a branch), laying out stones in a structured pattern, sending out smoke signals, using morse code with a flashlight or mirror, and by making ground markers out of wood, stones, green branches, dirt, or anything else that is easily noticed.
